THE CITY OF
BEAUMONT wants persons in the position of Police
Officer to be adequately trained so they are able to perform
their duties proficiently. It is understood that prior
experience as a police officer should be compensated to
reward those officers that qualify, and to assist them in
the financial transition of relocating to the Beaumont
Police Department.
Currently licensed
Texas Peace Officer applicants may be eligible for a sign on
incentive pay up to $10,000.
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT is
willing to make a conditional offer of employment to a
qualified peace officer and offer a signing incentive of
$2000 for each completed year of state
licensing agency, certified regular full-time, paid peace
officer time, to a maximum of five (5) years. For purposes
of this agreement, a qualified peace officer must hold a
valid peace officer license issued by the Texas Commission
on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education
(TCLEOSE). Credit for
service time outside the State of Texas must
be validated by that agency’s licensing board or POST (Peace
Officer Standards and Training). Applicants must
be licensed as a Peace Officer in the state of Texas and the
license must be current with no expirations
or suspensions.
POLICE OFFICER- $4098 per
month or $49,176 per year
( posted until all openings are
filled )
POLICE CADET- $2750 per month while in academy
Police Officer: Applicants must be
licensed as a Peace Officer in the state of Texas and the
license must be current with no expirations or suspensions.
Police Cadet: (Must meet at least
one qualification and Basic Academy Enrollment Standards)
(1) Applicants must have at least 30 College Credit
Hours from an accredited College or University or
(2)
3 years Law Enforcement experience (i.e. out of State Peace
Officer, County, State, Federal Correctional Officer,
Telecommunicator Operator, Crime Scene Investigator) or
(3) have served active duty 24 months service in a
branch of the United States Military. Active Reserve or
National Guard service will also be considered. If an
applicant was discharged, the discharge must be under
Honorable conditions.
Basic Academy
Enrollment Standards: TCLEOSE minimum enrollment
standards require that applicants with a GED must have 12
semester college hours with at least a 2.0 GPA or 24 months
active duty in the military.
