Subject:BPD hosting news conference to inform public about upcoming warrant roundup
The Beaumont Police Department is hosting a news conference on Thursday, January 23, at 10:00 AM in the Municipal Court Room located at 700 Orleans @ Forsythe. During the news conference, officers will detail the upcoming “Southeast Texas Warrant Round Up” scheduled for the week of February 10 – 14.
“The Southeast Texas Warrant Round Up” is a multi-agency effort that affords citizens an opportunity to take care of outstanding traffic warrants. During tomorrow’s news conference, we will inform the public of a two-week grace period in which people will have the opportunity to settle their warrants without the fear of being arrested.
Representatives from the Beaumont Police Department, Port Arthur Police Department, Lumberton Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, and the City of Beaumont Municipal Court will be present at the news conference.
This conference will provide an opportunity to inform the public of the two-week grace period that will be in place prior to the enforcement phase of the warrant round up.
Immediately following the news conference, the media will have the opportunity to view patrol vehicles equipped with special license plate readers which they will use during the enforcement phase of the round up.
Your presence at the news conference reserves you a seat in one of those specially equipped vehicles on the media day of the enforcement phase, which is scheduled for Monday, February 10.
