Homicide
Crime Stoppers is again asking for help in
solving a homicide which occurred in November 1995. On the
morning of November 3, 1995, the nude body of 40-year-old Reba
Lynn Richard was found lying partially in the roadway in the 1400
block of Land Street near downtown Beaumont. The cause of
death was strangulation.
Burglary
Sometime late Thursday, Sept. 6, or early
Friday, Sept. 7, an animal clinic located in the 2500 block of N.
11th was broken into. The suspect entered by breaking out a
window and then prowled the entire building. A locked safe
was pried open and a small amount of animal prescription
medication was taken. It is believed the suspect cut himself
as a small amount of blood was found at the point of entry.
Auto Burglaries
U.S. Flag & Flagpole, 1430 Ashley, has seen
company vehicles broken into on two separate occasions.
Losses exceed $5,000. Suspects damaged company vehicles while
breaking into them. Items taken included two gasoline
generators, welding torches, electric impact wrenches, three
chainsaws and other assorted tools.
Business Burglaries
During a one-month period, five businesses have
been burglarized. All of the businesses were in or near the
2400 block of West Cardinal Drive which is near South Fourth
Street. Computers seem to be the items most taken. In
one burglary, blood was found near a broken window leading
investigators to believe a suspect was injured.
Burglary/Criminal Mischief
Recently vandals have broken into a locked
construction site in the 3700 block of Travis Street near Concord in
Beaumont's north end. The suspects broke into vehicles and
broke windows on heavy machinery and the job trailers. They
also broke into a work shed and poured a large amount of oil on the
equipment. Total loss was approximately $14,000.
Burglary
Sometime during the night of Thursday, July 26,
burglars entered a lawn equipment business located in the 6700
block of Eastex Freeway. Items taken included three Stihl
power edgers, four Stihl hedge trimmers, four Stihl blowers, two
Stihl pole saws, eight Stihl weedeaters and a Snapper "Yard
Cruiser" riding lawn mower.

Bank Robbery
At approximately 3:53 p.m. Wednesday, July 17,
the Hibernia Bank in the 6300 block of Phelan was robbed.
Two Hispanic males entered the bank. One suspect approached
the teller while the second suspect, who was armed with a gun,
stood watch at the door. The first suspect, who was armed
with a handgun, demanded money from the teller. Once money
was obtained from the teller, both suspects ran west from the
bank. They were last seen running through a parking lot at
Calder West Apartments.
The first suspect was in his early 20s, heavy
set, wearing a long sleeve black/white shirt, blue jeans, cark
colored bandana and sunglasses. The second suspect was
5'6", slender, wearing a light multi-colored shirt, blue jean
shorts and a dark bandana.
Burglaries
Since July 2, numerous business burglaries have
been reported to the police department. The majority of
these burglaries have occurred during the night and throughout the
city. Convenience stores, nightclubs, cleaners and strip
malls have been the main targets.
Arsons
Since May 28, 2001, nine trucks from Beaumont
businesses have been set afire and burned totally to the
ground. Some of these trucks were tractor cabs. These
crimes have occurred in downtown Beaumont and on College in the
west part of town.
Criminal Mischief
During the night hours of Friday, May 15, 2001,
27 vehicles were damaged throughout the city. The suspects
threw bricks and concrete at vehicles breaking out windows and
damaging the exterior and interior of the vehicles.
Robbery
On Saturday, May 12, 2001, at approximately
8:45 p.m., the clerk at the Fairfield Inn on Interstate 10 and
Washington was approached by a masked gunman. The suspect
pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money. The suspect
forced the clerk to open the register and then he removed the
cash. The suspect was joined by two other suspects.
They taped the clerk's hands and mouth and then fled the
scene. The suspects were last seen running toward a nearby
canal. The only description given on the three suspects was
that they were black males.
Theft
Sometime on Thursday, May 10, 2001, someone
entered a locked area at United Rentals, 1790 East Cardinal Drive
and took several items. Stolen were two Model 250 trailer
mounted Lincoln welding machines and a 12-cubic foot mortar mixer
which also was mounted on a trailer. Total loss was more than
$20,000.
Theft
Sometime during the first weekend in May, someone
stole a large amount of construction tools and a forklift from a
location on N. 11th Street. The forklift was recovered later;
however, the large basket attached to the forklift is still
missing. Other items taken included an extension ladder,
electric saws, electric drills and two specially designed boxes
which held these tools.
Attempted Robbery
On Thursday, April 19, after the Black-Eyed Pea
Restaurant had closed, two armed suspects attempted to gain entry to
the restaurant through a locked back door. The manager quickly
called police and the suspects fled. A black ski mask and a
.45-caliber magazine was dropped by the suspects. One suspect
was described as a Hispanic male and the second suspect was
described as a white male.
Burglary
Eight times since December of last year, burglars
have broken into Eastex Farm & Home, 1550 W. Cardinal
Drive. Items taken included nine lawn tractors and several
batteries. The mowers were both John Deere and Sabre brand
mowers.
Burglary
Sometime during the night of March 17, someone
entered the locked Woodland Baptist Church, 1860 West Lucas.
Once inside, the burglars prowled the church offices and took
several items including a label maker, four JBL speakers, one
amplifier and a 13-inch combination television/vcr.
Carjackings
On Thursday, March 15, a lone female was robbed
at gunpoint by several black males in a parking lot at College and
Avenue C. As the victim exited her vehicle, she was approached
by two black males. They asked her if she wanted to buy
some crack cocaine. The woman replied that she did not.
She got back into her car and one of the suspects pulled a chrome
plated semi-automatic and yelled at her to get out of the car.
The woman complied. The suspects sped away in the victim's
car. The car was recovered on Friday, March 16, and two of
three suspects were arrested. The third suspect fled into the
woods and was able to evade arrest.
Criminal Mischiefs
During the night of February 24, numerous reports
of criminal mischief were reported to police. One of the cases
reported a concrete brick being thrown through a window of a police
officer's residence. Another incident was a car windshield
shattered at the home of another police officer. In addition,
three vans had their windshields broken. These crimes occurred
near Gladys, Edson, Howell and Belvedere.
Auto Theft
Sometime between December 22 and December 26,
2000, someone stole a black 2001 model Acura from a car dealership
in the 1000 block of IH10 North. The suspect was apparently
involved in an accident on December 26 as the vehicle was found
wrecked and abandoned at N. 7th and Duperior.
Homicide
On December 30, 1999, Jose Moreno, 53, was found
murdered in a canal located on Major Drive between Highway 105 and
Tram Road. Detectives are still seeking a suspect in this
unsolved homicide.
Homicide
On July 5, 2000, Carolyn Dale Carter, a
50-year-old female, was found dead at a residence in the 700 block
of Shell. The victim was found in the backyard by the swimming
pool. Her death is being investigated as a homicide. If

1998 Murder
On Nov. 29, 1998, a couple was searching for
tin cans when they discovered the body of a black male baby in a
dumpster at the intersection of Park and Florida. The baby
was found in a black plastic garbage bag. Its arms were
bound to its body and its mouth was taped shut with duct
tape. The baby had been fed and cared for prior to its
murder. The baby was estimated to have been two to three
days old. Area citizens named the child "Baby
Hope."
Robbery
On Thursday, Jan. 11, at approximately 5:45 p.m.,
a 62-year-old woman was walking to her car when she was attacked and
her purse stolen. The victim tried to struggle with the
suspect, but was thrown against a wall and struck her head.
The suspect was described as a young black male in his teens wearing
all black clothing. He and another young black male ran north
from the scene which was on Sixth St.
Attempted Robbery
On Thursday, Dec. 21, at 10:15 a.m., a black
male suspect entered the Key Federal Credit Union in the Gaylynn
Shopping Center on N. 11th. The suspect displayed a gun and
attempted to rob the clerk. The suspect was unable to get
through the locked door. The suspect fled on foot. He
was described as 25 years of age, thin build, and dark
complexion. He was wearing a long black leather jacket and
what appeared to be a black dog muzzle over his face.
Shooting/Kidnapping
On November 11, three teenagers were walking in
the 1500 block of Park near Pipkin Park when they were approached by
a black male in a small blue car. The subject exited his car
holding a blue steel revolver and identified himself as
"Youngblood." One of the youths ran away. The
suspect shot another youth in the back and made a third get in
the car trunk. The suspect then drove off with the victim in
the trunk of the car. The victim was released later
unharmed. The suspect had some kind of tattoo on his left
chest.
Homicide
At approximately 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12,
officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Magnolia reference a
man down on the ground. Officers discovered the body of
50-year-old Larry Charles Nunnally lying face down on the
sidewalk. Nunnally had a gunshot wound to the back of his
head. It appeared he had been dead for several hours.
Disappearance of Kimberly Langwell
It has been a little over one year since the
disappearance of Kimberly Langwell. Her car, a silver 1994
Nissan Altima, was found at a shopping center near Phelan and Dowlen.
Detectives are still following leads and fear foul play.
Kimberly is a white female with blonde hair, blue eyes, 5'3
1/2" tall and weighs about 130 pounds. If anyone knows

Homicide
At approximately 4:30 a.m. Friday, June 2, a
woman driving through the south side of the old Walmart parking lot
discovered the body of a 44-year-old white male. The victim
had died from gunshot wounds. He was later identified as David
Summerall. Summerall was last seen alive around 11 p.m. the
night before at the Market Place at Folsom and Lucas. He was
wearing a black t-shirt with graphics on the front, dark slacks and
white tennis shoes at the time of his death. He is 44 years of
age, 5'9", 145 lbs., with short brown hair and a light
moustache. Anyone having seen the victim the night of his
death should contact Crime Stoppers as soon as possible.
