The Beaumont Police Family Violence Task Force was formed in 1996. The Unit was tasked with investigating domestic violence reported crime. Unfortunately domestic violence has escalated to the point for the need of such a unit. This issue is not only regional but a nation wide issue. The City of Beaumont was one of the first Law Enforcement Agency to recognize the need for such a Unit within the Department.

Currently the Unit is housed at 2850 Gulf Street. It is away from the main station to allow victims and witnesses to feel free to come in to give a statement without the stigma of being at a Police Station. The Unit has four Detectives and one Sergeant. All the Detectives carry a very heavy case load each month. Each Detective can be assigned anywhere between 40-60 cases a month. The cases that are assigned are investigated by each Detective efficiently and thoroughly.

The Unit is a cohesive set of individuals which have one main goal in mind, to break the cycle of domestic violence. Each Detective cares a great deal about each victim and the citizens of Beaumont. As a result they work ten hour days or more to make sure each case and victim has the best service available. This Unit will continue to work hard to serve every victim and citizen of our great city.
