Street Crimes Unit
The
Street Crimes Unit addresses narcotics, vice and
gang related issues through proactive law enforcement
measures. Through crime analysis, high crime areas
are identified and various tactics such as zero
tolerance, surveillance and intelligence gathering
are used to combat the problem. In addition to these
duties, Street Crimes serves as the department's
bicycle patrol unit. Bicycle patrols are used for
security at events such as the South Texas State
Fair, Mardi Gras on the Neches and high traffic
holiday shopping areas.
