Several officers within the Beaumont Police Department currently have Internet e-mail addresses. It is oftentimes convenient for other officers and/or citizens to communicate directly with officers who can answer their questions due to their interests, specialty and expertise. Chief Tom Scofield

Chief Scofield has been the Beaumont Police Chief since 1993.  Prior to that assignment, Chief Scofield held a number of departmental positions including SWAT commander.

Deputy Chief Frank Coffin

Deputy Chief Coffin oversees the Patrol Division of the Beaumont Police Department. He also is very active in teaching criminal justice courses at Lamar University which is located in Beaumont.

Capt. Melissa Ownby

Capt. Ownby is a 22-year veteran of the Beaumont Police Department. She is currently assigned as the Communications Unit supervisor as well as the patrol deputy chief adjunct. She also oversees the Records Unit.  Capt. Ownby is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas. She is the webmaster for the department's website.

Lt. Sample currently oversees the Traffic Unit of the Beaumont Police Department. He is also the COP lieutenant. He has been with the department for 27 years. His interests include motorcycling, fishing and hunting.

Sgt. Mike Earney

Sgt. Earney is assigned to Traffic Unit of the Patrol Division. He is interested in the use of computers and is involved in putting together a home page for an organization in which he is involved.

Sgt. Jeffrey Skinner

Sgt. Skinner is currently assigned to the Administrative Division as a planning and research officer. Prior to his current assignment, he was the supervisor of the Domestic Violence Unit. His main interests are "management" and "ethics" topics.

Sgt. Worden is assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division working fraud cases. Prior to his current assignment, Sgt. Worden supervised the Auto Theft Task Force and worked in the burglary detail.

Officer Bartley has been with the Beaumont Police Department since May 1994. He currently is assigned to the K-9 unit with his partner "Rocky." Officer Bartley enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons. His hobbies include fishing and photography.

Officer Don Bracker

Officer Hughes is currently assigned to the Special Crimes Unit as a juvenile and sex crimes investigator. Prior to this assignment, he was in the Patrol Division for five years working as an FTO. Officer Jerry Jackson is a certified firearms, defensive tactics and OC spray instructor. He also teaches at the Lamar University Regional Police Academy. Officer Jackson enjoys hunting, fishing and softball. He currently is assigned to the department's Training Unit.

Officer Jerry LaChance

Officer LaChance has been with the Beaumont Police Department for 12 years. He is currently assigned to the narcotics unit and works narcotics interdiction. Officer LaChance also is a sniper/observer for the department's SWAT team. Officer LaChance enjoys spending time with his family, playing softball and golf, and coaching kids in sports such as baseball and football.

Officer Smith currently is assigned to the Patrol Division working the 3 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. shift. He is a firearms, hate crimes and OC (pepper spray) instructor. He has been with the Beaumont Police Department since 1991 and is currently serving as a field training officer (FTO). Officer Smith also hosts his own home page.

Officer Trahan is one of two Community Oriented Policing officers within the Beaumont Police Department.  He also works closely with the Beaumont Police Citizens On Patrol.
