Special Response Teams (S.R.T)

  

The Beaumont Police Department Special Response Team was created to address Civil Disorder Issues.  The duties have grown to providing support for SWAT during callouts and providing support for SWAT during the execution of Narcotics Search Warrants.  The team is also tasked with Dignitary Protection Details.  During Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Ike the Special Response Team was assigned Site Security Details that entailed providing security for Evacuation and Repatriation Sites.  They were also responsible for providing security at sites that distributed Food, Ice, and Water. 

The team is made up of a group of diverse individuals who train together fourteen days during the calendar year.  The Special Response Team meets on a monthly basis where they train for crowd control situations and dignitary protection details. 

The Team is staffed with twenty one officers that include one Lieutenant, one Sergeant, two team leaders, two assistant team leaders and a tactical medic.
